mailSpeed FAQs

Here are the most frequently asked questions about the mailSpeed remote email access software. If you still have questions, please contact us.

Q1
Can I use mailSpeed when travelling?
Yes, and by connecting to a dial-up service that is in the city or country you are in you can connect at the local rate of that city or country and on your mobile the local roaming rate will apply.

Q2
Can I use my standard mobile phone?
Yes, as long as it has a connection facility and data enabled service or SIM card. To find out if your SIM card or mobile contract has data enabled connection, contact your mobile service provider and ask. The data enabled function can in most cases be activated by simple request by phone to the service provider. However, in some cases your mobile provider might need to supply you with a new SIM card.

Q3
Can I use mailSpeed when I am connected to the LAN in my office?
Yes, your computer can detect when a connection is available and configured to "dial whenever a network is not present". In that way, the switch from mobile to fixed connection is automatic and transparent to you.

Q4
How do I connect my mobile phone to my laptop?
There are several methods available and depend on the mobile phone to be used. The connection can be through a cable directly from phone to lap-top (or notebook), or via Infra Red connection, or using Blue Tooth technology. If you want a separate phone for your computer, we recommend a "PCcard phone" which slides into the PC card slot (PCMCIA) of the laptop. In that way the "phone" is connected to the laptop at all times. For handset connections and handset issues in general, we recommend that you contact your handset supplier.

Q5
Can I use mailSpeed on my desktop computer at home or at work?
Yes. mailSpeed works on all PC computers using Microsoft mail browsers, like Outlook and Outlook Express.

Q6
Do I need to change my email address?
No. You can use your existing e-mail addresses.

Q7
Can I use my present internet service provider?
Yes you can, there is no need to change your internet service providers.

Q8
Can I use my present mobile phone network?
Yes you can, there is no need to change your mobile phone network.

Q9
Can I use mailSpeed to browse the internet?
No, mailSpeed is a dedicated service for e-mail and will not affect your Internet web use. However, a dedicated mailSpeed web network is under development.

Q10
Can I sell mailSpeed to my customers?
Yes, we are keen to appoint further resellers, so please contact us.
