Mobile phone tips: phone retrieval

Mobile Phone Retrieval

retrieve_your_phone_282144.jpgSeveral things to do with a new phone before it is lost or stolen:

  1. look up your IMEI
  2. protect your phone by registering it
  3. add ICE to your phone - one more way for friends / family to be called if your phone is found.

Here's another tip, which we suggest you also do for items such as digital cameras. While unfortunately some items get stolen and appealing to the good nature of a thief is unlikely to be successful, a lot of items such as phones, cameras, laptops, etc, are lost - and people who find them often have no way to know who or where to return them to.

If you put address labels on items such as memory cards in your digital camera, as well as storing a photo called "if found.jpg" with your name and address on it, there is at least a possibility that you might see your products returned.

If you have a laptop, there's great laptop tracking software that is available at remarkably low cost and gives secret updates each time your laptop is connected to the internet, so can be found by law enforcement officers if stolen.

Similarly, there are apps for Android and iPhone etc which provide similar functionality.
