It's quite simple: there is a device that goes between the plug and the plug socket, and it contains a communication unit, which works using the ZigBee protocol. This is similar to a form of WiFi or wireless LAN, which does not conflict with WiFI. Each unit not only transmits its own usage data but acts as a relay for other units, thereby forming a network, with a zone controller for every 60 units.
The system then contacts each device at the appropriate time to switch it off. Right off. To stop your electricity leaking away overnight.
And, for PCs, we use Microsoft's Hibernation software, so there is no damage caused in shutting down a PC overnight.
