July - ORATE ADDS DUAL SIM PHONE, ENHANCES ALTERNATIVE TO ROAMING
Telecoms
consultancy Orate has added the innovative "Twin" dual
SIM phone from Finnish manufacturer Benefon, making it simpler
to switch SIM cards when travelling internationally.
Since
April of this year, Orate has been offering prepaid SIM cards
from different countries to travellers who rebel at the high price
of making and receiving mobile phone calls while abroad. Simply
by using a foreign prepaid SIM, inbound calls are free of charge,
and calls both within country and back to the UK are much less
expensive.
Benefon
have launched their dual SIM slot phone, the Twin, and Orate was
quick to pick it up for their alternative to roaming.
"We
have been offering SIMpals - a twin SIM battery - for some months"
explains Richard Atkins, MD of Orate "but some clients prefer
to only have original parts and components. By listing the Benefon
Twin, we can offer them a purpose built phone with two SIM slots."
The
phone cycles between the two SIM cards, which can either be "work"
and "personal", or "national" and "international".
There
is also the opportunity for some "least cost routing",
selecting which network to use for outbound calls.
