Save money when visiting Romania with this Pay as you go SIM card, which includes airtime worth approx €4 / £2.75 which will buy some 20 minutes of local talk time. There is NO cost to receive phone calls while in Romania and calls to both local numbers and "back home" are much less expensive than using your mobile phone abroad.

It is free to receive SMS and costs approximately GB£0.04 to send them to other Romanian mobiles, and about GB£0.08 to send to international ones.

NB: you must have an unlocked phone to use this Romanian prepaid SIM card. We offer SIM free phones, specially selected for their suitability for international travel.

Your SIM card activates when you make your first outbound call in Romania. Once your pay as you go SIM card is activated, you will also be able to receive incoming calls.

Your Romanian phone number is indicated on the left-hand side of the package envelope. It appears as "Nr. tel." and is in the format 072 xxxxxxx.

Customer service can be reached by calling *222 using your Romanian Mobifon prepaid SIM card.

Topping Up: Buy a voucher from one of the many authorised Romanian Mobifon outlets to top up your Romanian prepaid SIM card. Once you have done that, send an SMS as follows: *111* then the 14-digit top-up voucher code, then # (without spaces) then press SEND. Alternatively, you can call the operator at 9898 and follow instructions.

You can check your account balance by calling *101#

For friends to call you, your number will start +40 (for Romania) 72 - and the remaining 6-digits of your Romanian SIM card telephone number . To make an international call, dial either 00 or the "+" symbol and the country code (e.g. 44 for the UK) followed by the area code (minus the leading "0") and the phone number.
